My name is Liz Mullins and I am married to my best friend, Kevin, and we have two amazing sons. I discovered my passion for birth after my first son was born. After much investigating and reading I attended my first birth as a doula in July 03' and decided to take the DONA International birth doula training in the fall of 03'. My second son was born February 04' and that was a doula supported birth and a wonderful and empowering experience. I am now certified as a birth doula. CD(DONA)

I have been very active in the birth community since early 2005 (once my youngest weaned!) and have attended births at both of our city's hospitals as well as the hospital in Amherst, NS . I am also part of a consumer group working towards having midwives available and funded in our province because if women knew what they were missing without the women centered care of midwives, they would be kicking and screaming for that choice. That's what it's all about, ladies-choices! 

I believe birth is about more than delivering a child...it is the transition to a new or expanded family and an experience that can be very empowering. Women are realizing that there are many options available to them and I enjoy helping families establish and realize their wishes.
