Liz Mullins was there on the day everything changed. She facilitated the birth of our first child, a bloody and beautiful entrance, absolutely beyond anything either of us had ever experienced.

What we needed was the support of someone with experience – not a doctor or a nurse – but the kind of earthy wisdom which women and men could once count on finding in their community. In the age of the nuclear family, the new mother and father are left alone with a bewildering array of professionals, in the moment at which they most need the support and wisdom of a larger community. Liz brought a desperately needed human element into the labor and birth.

Labor started Christmas eve at 6 pm. Liz was true to her word – she would be there at any time of the day or night. As we drove into the hospital she met us at the door and stayed with us on the Christmas eve we will never forget. The early stages of labor were strange and awkward. Liz was particularly helpful at this stage, coaching us and comforting us when we would otherwise have been alone. The birth was not a video-perfect story. We spent Christmas morning in the operating room. But we credit Liz with helping us achieve what we most wanted for our baby: a natural birth. At 6 in the morning on Christmas Day Ethan Simon entered the world. I cannot image doing it without Liz. Her tireless presence relieved us of much unwanted anxiety, and helped all three of us enter into this new stage of life. Thanks Liz."-

"Thank God for Doulas !!

I never realized just how important having a Doula could be until I had my first born, Noah.

Liz was there before, during and after for me. Before going into labor, I was well informed and well aware of my rights as a patient. I had my birth plan all drawn up for the nurses and doctors taking care of me and baby. Although things didn't go as planned (do they ever?), Liz was there for me, through a long labor and my cesarean birth. She stayed with me and comforted me while my husband looked after our baby boy. Wow, she was a huge help both for me and my husband.

I feel so blessed to have had Liz as my Doula, and of course my healthy baby boy ! I can't say enough about the whole experience !

Liz comes highly recommended by both my husband and myself.
