MY TRAINING
My training started in 2003 when I took the birth doula course put on by DONA International, and I have since completed the many steps towards certification , and I am now certified as a birth doula through DONA. As a DONA doula I have standards of practice, a code of ethics, and I take these seriously. Before I take any notes we will both sign a client confidentiality release form so you can be sure your privacy will be upheld. May 2006 I completed the DONA International Postpartum Doula Training and would also consider doing some postpartum work on occasion. September 2006 I was appointed the DONA International Provincial Representative for New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, and I am very honored to be giving back to this wonderful organization. October 2006 I completed a Lamaze Accredited Childbirth Educator training as the first step on the path to becoming a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. I am working very hard at studying and preparing my course design, once I get approval for my course design I hope to be offering Childbirth Ed classes sometime in fall 2007.
We have a secret in our culture, and it's not that birth is painful. It's that women are strong. -Laura Stavoe Harm
